The National Perinatal Epidemiology & Statistics Unit (NPESU) was established in 1979 and continues to be a leading source of statistical and epidemiological research in reproductive medicine, pregnancy, childbirth, and the health and care of newborns.

Clinical registries

Clinical registries systematically collect health-related information to monitor and improve quality of care, support evidence-based research, and inform patients and healthcare professionals about specific clinical areas or treatments.

Our research

The NPESU undertakes commissioned and investigator-led research with particular expertise in reproductive medicine, maternity care, and newborn care of high-risk infants. Methodological areas of expertise include construction and analysis linked datasets, perinatal epidemiology and biostatistics, policy evaluation, and health services research.
